In Europe Epson has announced 2 new printers called the 7900 and 9900. These printers will not be available until at least December of this year. If you have experience waiting for Epson new products you’ll understand that the December target is usually optimistic.

That said, the 2 printers will have 11 inks cartridges, yes dual blacks, orange and green. Cartridges will be 350 ml & 700 ml. Expect the 350 carts to be about $100+ and the 700ml to be about $200+. That makes a set of inks(street price) to be either $1000 or $2000. If you’re wondering if you should wait & you’re a small shop I’d say absolutely don’t wait. The cost of ink will be painful. I don’t mean the cost per print, simply may of you are smaller shops & $1000 for ink to buy a set will be painful. There will not be 110 or 220 ml inks.

Also there has been no announcement for a 17” model, perhaps it will follow but we never know. Email either me or steve if you need further details. steve@digitalartsupplies.net

This week we are showcasing Cool White Matte. CWM is very white, matte paper that dries instantly. It is slightly heavier than Epson's Enhanced Matte and gives as good as, if not better, image quality on a white surface. (It's also less expensive!) Many of our customers use it as an every day “proof your image” type paper but we have recently found that quite a number use it for final prints because of it’s brightness, image quality and cost. If you need a great paper that doesn’t require being 100% cotton this is the paper for you.
